FINISH HIM!!!!!!!! TOP 5 FINISHING MOVES

We all have our favorites, and for different reasons. The can be basic and simple, they can come from out of nowhere, or they so amazing your left wondering how, and if the person who received it is still alive. Yes, wrestling is scripted, but the moves can be dangerous or deadly, hence why the pro's do it, and we the fans watch (if you try them, your not a fan, you are an idiot).

Here's the Non-Geeky Nerds Top 5 Favorite finishers;

5) Sweet Chin Music/Super Kick
Whether its with the band tuning up or from out of nowhere, and also regardless of who delivers it, this move makes the list. Surprise factor (timing), and there is also room for error that could leave the move looking weak or the receiver left toothless. You "baby" the move and everyone will see you didn't connect, but if you go too hard, your gonna connect with the persons head/face.

4) K.O. Punch
There really isn't anything more basic than a straight right or left hook. However, when it is delivered by a 7ft 500lbs giant, that basic move becomes weapon of mass destruction. Every time Big Show (Paul White) delivers his K.O. Punch, I find myself wondering what if? Imagine if Show connected with one by accident or if he was pissed off at the person (backstage heat)? Scary stuff.

3) Rock Bottom
I almost put the Stunner in this position, but the needed boot before delivery bumped it in place of this one. Rock Bottom or if your a Booker T fan, Book End, is a finsiher that is both something that can come from out of nowhere but also for a photo op moment (ie Rock/Hogan WM18). And either way, it usually signals The Rock is about to get the W.

2) R.K.O/Diamond Cutter
The move is owned by Randy Orton right now (not complaining), but before it became the R.K.O., most of us knew it as the Diamond Cutter. Regardless of the name or who uses it, this move is a favorite because it can happen at anytime and can come from out of nowhere. Even in situations where we know Orton is going to win the match, we are left with the possibility of a surprise on "when" the match will end.

1) The Canadian Destroyer
If you have not seen this move before, I urge you to at least check it out on Youtube. The wrestler who is known for this, is Canada's own, Petey Williams. I don't really have to get into just how dangerous this move is, as we all know the risk involved in a basic piledriver, but a flipping piledriver? Gives you that "Sick" feeling in both the good and bad way at the same time every time you see it.

Honorable mentions are Stone Cold's Stunner, 'Takers Tombstone, Jericho's Lionsault and Macho Man's Elbow Drop. Not on the list because they are even more obvious than the ones already listed, but also because I like them for who delivered them.

WWE & TNA IMPACT! WORK n SHOOT

She is still getting the hang of it mind you, but Dixie Carter as a "heel" is actually working. For me at least. Now don't get mad when I say this, but as of late, TNA Impact Wrestling has been at par with WWE. I will try to clarify that for the haters out there, key word "try".

Most fans know what a "work", a "shoot", and a "worked shoot is in professional wrestling. In case you don't; a "work" is basically all scripted, wrestlers saying what they are told to say. A "shoot" is real, whether it is on the mic or in the ring, when a "shoot" is occurring your either hearing truth or watching an actual fight. Then there is a "worked shoot", and that is when there is being truthful stuff being said, etc but it was cleared before hand to be a part of the storyline. Example of a "worked shoot" was a few years ago with Edge, Lita and Matt Hardy. All part of the show, but was the truth. Lita cheated on Matt with Edge (Adam Copeland).

When the lines are blurred and not sure of what is being worked or shot, it makes for some great moments. Okay, perhaps not "great" but makes things interesting at the least. This is happening in both WWE and TNA at the moment. WWE seems to be running with more of a worked shoot, in regards to HHH/Stephanie and those involved in that storyline, and even somewhat in the CM Punk/Heyman angle. There are "truths" all through these stories, but controlled of course by WWE. Over in TNA however, it is a little harder to tell the difference. It doesn't help that there are clearly some problems going on over there with such a depleted roster as of late. It is however, making things interesting. Hard to follow at times, but interesting. Is AJ Styles really working without a contract or no? Are the things he's saying his own, or just a script based on everyones general opinon? Easy to say that they may be trying the CM Punk storyline from a couple years ago over in WWE, and probably is. However, it's not that far of a stretch for AJ to not have a contract, wrestlers do it all the time (or used to anyhow), and even less of a stretch that he would agree with the words coming out of his mouth as they could be his own. There is even the Hulk Hogan angle now, did he really quit? Is this all just part of the story? Hard to say, contract could be up and TNA may not have the money at the moment to keep him.

Is it possible that TNA is literally dying before us every Thursday night on Spike and just happens to be some of their best work in a long time? Or is it simply that, a "work"? Hope it is the latter, as like I said at the start, although "green", this heal Dixie is working for me. The good news is, most of TNA Impact's roster could go to the WWE someday, especially now that WWE isn't all about just bodybuilder types getting spots and pushes anymore. Guys like CM Punk and right now Daniel Bryan are showing that. Imagine the match AJ Styles would have on a Wrestlemania sized stage, or a WWE size audience chanting "Joe's Gonna Kill You!". Goosebumps.

HEEL TURN: WHO NEEDS ONE IN WRESTLING

Some of the biggest moments in pro-wrestling and sports entertainment have come from the classic "heel turn". When a "face" or good guy flips the switch and let's out his inner bad guy (hey yo!). Those of us who were brought to the dance with WWE (then WWF) in the 80's could never forget when one of the biggest fan favorites of all-time in Andre The Giant turned heel on a classic "Piper's Pit" segment hosted by the rowdy one himself Roddy Piper and his guest, the immortal Hulk Hogan. Andre, joined by his new manager Bobby The Brain Heenan, ripped the shirt and cross off of Hulk, and was the beginning of the road to one of the greatest events in all of sports and entertainment, Wrestlemania III. Another was the birth of The Heartbreak Kid in Shawn Michaels, when he turned heel against long time partner Marty Jannetty, super-kicking him as well as throwing him through the window of the "Barber Shop". The late 90's saw two more big heel turns, with Rocky Maivia becoming The Rock, and who could forget when Hulk Hogan was revealed to be "the third man" and launching the nWo.

There have been many, many heel turns though out time, but based on the examples listed before, a simple turn can lead to much bigger and much better things for not just the individual but the business over-all. Of course, a turn doesn't always equal success, short nor long term (Goldberg/New Blood?), but the following list contains people that may as well give it a try. For some it's simply a re-freshening to prolong their career, others it's an opportunity to possibly go up a level or so, and then there are those who could simply cause tremors through out the mainstream media and bring attention back to the profession.

Kofi Kingston
Remember Shelton Benjamin? Great athlete, was always the highlight of any ladder match he was in, but just couldn't quite make it past mid-card status? Well, Kofi is the same thing but with dreads. However, there is a difference. Kofi seems a little more comfortable on the mic than Shelton was, and in this biz that is very good. The chances of there being a IC or US title match with Kofi involved, are about the same as there being a 6-Man tag match on Smackdown! (really high, for those unaware). That and a combination of being a "face" since debuting, is leading to staleness, and eventually fans could turn. Why not beat them to the punch, and shock them. Perhaps as part of a group or faction, but regardless Kofi is in the spotlight getting a huge push. Could be Rock-like, and if not, simply turn back.

John Cena
Yes, we know, "the kids". But, there must be a way to work this so that he is a "heel" for those of us old enough to attend an event without a parent or guardian and still be a "face" for the kids. Perhaps something similar to Bret Hart back in the day where he was hated by the US crowds, but fan favorite everywhere else. I will admit though, regardless of how it is done, it will be hard as those who "boo" now could likely "cheer" when the turn happens. Forever looking for our next Stone Cold perhaps.

Rey Mysterio
I think he was a heel at one time or another back in the WCW days, but how long ago was that? He has been a "face" since entering the WWE back in the early 2000's, and the "underdog" bit has run its course awhile ago. Now it is unlikely as Rey must be winding down his career due to the endless list of injuries and surgeries, but perhaps a change could help him go out with a big bang, or even lengthen it. Especially if he develops more of a ground attack for his inring moves, tease the classic moves but flip off the fans and not do them. Even blame the fans for his body being broken. Join up with Alberto Del Rio (who should always stay heel by the way) or Vicki. Although likely not as big as a Hulk Hogan turn was, but never say never in this industry right? With the fan base he has it's possible.

The Great Khali
Okay, many might say he should just retire. However, despite his immobility he is still an attraction much like Andre The Giant was even at the twilight of his career. Being teamed up with Hornswoggle and being made out as a joke just isn't working. I say out Hornswoggle through a table, and then simply operate as a monster with a "get in, destroy all, leave" way of doing things. Although, he could garner fan cheers doing that to Hornswoggle, so perhaps Santino Marella.

Santino Marella
Speaking of Santino, he is tough one to knock. Although he is the comedy source of the shows, he performs very well both in the ring and on the mic. Wouldn't be mainstream big, but it would be WWE Universe big if the Cobra started lashing out at same "faces" (pun intended). To really make this turn work, they could tap into his Italian roots and perhaps show him as an evil genius and leader beneath his funny man exterior. Even perhaps give him a faction similar to that of a mafia (yes, even TNA's "Main Event Mafia"), and a push to go along with it if all goes well that is.

Eric Young
Figured I needed a TNA person on here, but to be honest, everyone there has turned and turned back so I am going with EY himself. Yes they tried this before, but there wasn't really a push or build up to the reveal that I could remember. Why not try it again? And make him like Santino above, a brilliant bad guy contradicting his "face" persona.

Like I said in the beginning, these aren't guaranteed to work, but one can dream.
